Today is Karinto Day.

It's a kind of Japanese sweets, and it's more like a candy, but nowadays there are many kinds of stores specializing in Karinto.
The ingredients are wheat flour, sugar, water, yeast, salt, baking soda, etc., kneaded together, made into sticks, fried in lodging oil, and dipped in brown sugar or other dense ingredients.

The origins are unclear, but according to one theory, it was brought to Japan by the Japanese envoys to China in the Nara period (710-794), and it seems to have been around for a long time, spreading to the Kanto region in the Edo period (1603-1868).
Looking at it this way, karintou also has a long history, doesn't it?
By the way, what is your snack for today?
For me, it's karinto, of course. I'm sure you'll like it 😉 .
