Flowers are nice.
I found some cherry blossoms in front of one of the stores, just ahead of spring!
What did you do on your day off last week?

Karel Čapek, the man who coined the word "robot

f:id:kurasikarublog:20220214154507j:plain

Yesterday, I looked around the chocolate section to see which chocolate to buy for Miracle this year, and decided on Karel Čapek Black Tea Chocolate. (A collaboration between Karel Čapek tea store and Morozov)
The keyword here is "Karel Čapek".

Karel Čapek (1890-1938) was born in East Bohemia (now the Czech Republic). While active as a journalist, he also wrote novels, plays, and children's stories. His most famous works are "The Long, Long Story of the Doctor", "The Prickly Fish War", and "The Robot".
He is also the author of "The Long, Long Doctor's Story," "The Sanshoi War," "R-U-R," the play that coined the word "robot," and "The Gardener's Twelve Months.

According to Wikipedia

He is said to have coined the word "robot" from the Czech word "robota" meaning "labor" (originally meaning "servitude" in ancient Slavic), but he himself claims that his brother Josef coined the word.

In other words, Karel Čapek is the creator of the word "robot".

I read Chapek's book "The Prickly Ash War" when I was in my late twenties.
The yellow-covered "Twelve Months of a Gardener" (Chuko Bunko 1975) was given to me by Mr. H about ten years ago.
I found "Daschenka" (Shincho Bunko, 1998) at a used bookstore last year.
Dahshenka is the name of a fox terrier puppy, and the picture book consists of eight fairy tales for Dahshenka, the Dahshenka Sketchbook, How to Take a Picture of a Puppy, and the Dahshenka Album.

The illustrations are also drawn by Čapek. Isn't it nice and relaxing?

I've been talking about Karel Čapek for a long time now, but I can't talk about "Robot" without talking about Karel Čapek.

The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone.
